TERMS AND CONDITIONS FOR LESSONS FROM JON BYRNE 2023

1. All new and prospective students are required to attend a Consultation/Trial lesson, before we commit to a regular timetable of lessons. This lesson will be charged at the normal rate.

2. Lessons are given on a weekly basis only (with breaks taken for summer holidays) and are considered an ongoing booking unless given prior notice. Lesson slots are to be kept within the given time-late arrival does not alter the booked slot.

3. Please remember to bring any Music books, Sheet music, Notepads to every lesson. I am happy to provide pencils and erasers to use in class.

4. Payment is to be made in cash/card at the end of each lesson. I am also happy to invoice monthly. Bank transfers are also now accepted. A receipt of payment is available upon request.

5. Jon Byrne Piano reserves the right to increase prices each year. Students will always be given plenty of notice, and any adjustments will always happen in the New Academic Year (September/October). As of September 2023, lessons will cost £45 for 60mins, £35 for 45mins £25 for 30mins. (The ISM Surveyed average fee is £40-55/60min). My last fee increase was in 2017.

6. If you need to cancel a lesson, a period of 48 hours’ notice is required. Pupils/Parents who fail to give 48 hours’ notice will be charged the FULL FEE for the lesson.

7. A notice period of 1 month must be provided if you wish to terminate lessons.

8. If students behave in an inappropriate manner, show a disregard for my time or property, or fail to practise or attend classes on a regular basis, I reserve the right to terminate lessons immediately, without any notice. I will not tolerate any rudeness or abuse from students or parents.

9. If students plan to have lessons (in the same instrument) with another teacher, they are to inform me about this, and make the other teacher(s) aware of my teaching too.

10. All children, 10 years and younger, MUST be accompanied by one adult, who will need to sit-in on the lesson. Child protection as a teacher must be taken very seriously.

11. Occasionally, I employ the use of physical touch to demonstrate various piano-playing techniques, and to diagnose various physical tensions that could happen in the hands, wrists, elbows or arms. Any touch will be limited to the arms and shoulders only. If students are uncomfortable with this and would prefer that this approach not be used, they are to please state this BEFORE commencing lessons.
